Sound Deadening
Discussion
I've fitted a second rear bulkhead made from 6mm plywood , cut to size and rivetted to the rollcage then covered in carpet . The original fibreglass one has been braced more firmly than the original fixings and secured half way up the rollcage . The space in between I filled with sound deadening felt . I wasn't going to post the result but there has been a dramatic improvement to the whole of the car . There is still more than enough noise to please most people but what there is now sounds like very loud distant thunder rather than a deafening explosion . Off throttle there is just a pleasant whine and some tyre noise . It feels like a completely different car to drive and is easier because you can "hear " the suspension working and the tyres gripping . It's a very weird trasformation to describe but amazing. I think glueing and rivetting the second bulkhead to the rollcage has stiffened the chassis ; somethings' different . I have photos for those who wish to PM me as I'm no good with computers .
530 miles covered now and the A/S engine is almost faultless ; and I'm fussy [ask Ted !]
