just a comment now that i modified the loom to my needs, that the factory loom is not really designed for an EFI engine and ECU. needs quite a lot of rewiring and new wires to meak it all come together. Factory should really start offering a loom for ls engine and stalk integration, otherwise i can imagine some builders will go nuts.

I think you will find that it has been available, supplied with the American Speed LS7 engine package, for over a year. Six wires plug into the existing loom, without modification wink. I looked over the build manual one of their guys showed me at the last open day....even I could plug it together!

The factory loom is designed for the engines that the factory supports - older SBC and newer LS series. For these it is fine. If you want to fit something different, you are on your own - simple as that.

Regarding stalk integration - as other builders have found, there can be differences between 2 sets of stalks apparently from the same model of car !!

ok i do not think it is that easy, there are several changes necessary from positive to negative swichting, radiator, fuel pumps and starting button need different wiring and relay control, not a problem for me but i thought I bring the topic up, as not everybody has the engineering background I have.
I am not talking about the stalks which is another story........still the factory loom is useful and can be modified to whatever needs.

Hmmm, thats a fair response but when considering all the other electrical gremlins posted here, would it actually work properly, first attempt?

AFAIK, you can't buy an LS7 loom from the factory - the LS7 engine package that comes from American Speed includes the loom (and the fly-by-wire pedal)

The LS7 loom supplied by AS is made so that it integrates with the main factory wiring loom.

i can hardly believe this, there is too many changes necessary, if you do it right

Gail, at American Speed, told me when I ordered my LS7 from him that he dynos the engine to ensure that the loom (which he gets from someone else) works perfectly. Then he sends the whole lot over, and if you have fitted factory instruments, indicator switch etc. etc., then I am sure it will "plug-and-play".

Of course, if you want to fit indicator stalks, digital dash etc., then it might not fire up without a bit of work - and if you are sufficiently competent to do that work, then that's fine.
I am not, so I have stuck to a factory spec., and I expect my engine to "plug-and-play"

From my experience there`s no need to modify the factory supplied loom at all. There are however some connections that need to be made which are all extensively described and pictured in the manual that is supplied with the AS engine harness. The biggest "modification" that needs to be made is to connect the fuel box wires to some interior light wires in order to have power to switch from left to right tank.
What then remains is to connect the tacho/speedo wires to the instruments - you can`t use the wires in the factory loom as they supply a different signal to the speedo. With an LS engine the speedo signal is converted into a 3755 pulses per mile signal that connects to the speedo where the shielded wire normally goes. RPM is the same.
That`s about all I can think of, there need to be no other modifications/addiction as basically the 2 looms are more or less independent from another - I`ve always installed the factory loom on the left hand side and the AS loom on the other right side (as described in the manual).
There are although other suppliers on the market who offer looms for Ultima installation that cause much more trouble and don`t have any documentation - ask me how I know...

ok then it might be my special setup and my dtafast ecu, glad to hear that AS is preparing the interface in a way it can go easily in the ultima loom, if i am getting bored i will post my changed wiring loom drawing and then you can see what i am talking about.
just have finished integrating the actuators for the wireless lock operation, another challenge, just fit in the tight door space, no millimeters left !
But much better than having 3 different keys !!
