Well the time has finally come to put my money where my mouth is ( it will have to be my copper change I am afraid as I am near on broke but at least the colour will match my teeth I guess biggrin ) and get the GTW on track yes
I am hedging my bets a little as the car is not yet totally track ready but in a few weeks time it will all be back and running and then after a week of 'testing' it will be off to Goodwood on 3.7.09 for the cars track debut. RustiEvo will be there too, amongst others, and the best bit of all is that it will be the first day of the FOS so hideous traffic jams aside it should be well attended ( LuckyP eat your heart out wink )
I will be hedging my bets and taking Spot with me too just in case the GTW should falter, I am not prepared to waste valuable track time nono

Noise limits are pretty draconian there - do you know what sort of db you're putting out?

^^^ Tell me about it - Goodwood is 20 mins away from me and I have been there more times than I have had hot dinners ( and that is ALOT! wink ). I have done 7 track days there to date and seen more than a few participants thwarted by the noise limits but have no fear - it is a 105db day on 3.7.09 and what with my silencers now being re-packable + having decibel inserts if necessary I am confident that it will be below the max limit ( and let us not forget my red line is @ 5,750 rpm so as not to hurt the motor you understand biggrin ). When the car was SVA'd way back when it first registered 102.6 db and the inserts bought it down to 101 dead so I am confident that it will make the grade but I will more than likely take a trip over to Goodwood before hand and get it pre-noise tested. As I said above, if it all goes sh*t shaped, I will still do the day but in my trusty old track dog, Spot yes

Have you booked the whole Day or just a half?
Do you know if spectators will be able to get in as usual? Would like to come and watch so will give them a call to make sure I don't get turned away at the gate.
Is the GTW going on a trailer or is someone else bringing Spot?

^^^ C'mon now Prof, you know me better than that surely, I don't do things in halves wink
I can't see the spectating side of things ( no pun intended ) being any different can you? I will call Katie @ Goodwood tomorrow to clarify yes
The GTW will be driven to the track with Spot bringing up the rear ( all be it on a very short leash biggrin )

Just had a re-think and it may be an idea to take the trailer 'just in case', so we will see thumbup

It was little over 3 years ago my friend, yes that's right, 3 YEARS eek, but I am still game yes
I was at the factory several months ago and the Marlow's reminded me of said challenge but there is unlikely to be a head to head run, Richard said that a slip is all that would be required and so I am planning on presenting him with it and graciously accepting my winnings on the next FOD, but that is another thread wink

Hi Steve,

Wayne seems to have forgotten who found out about the day and let his good buddy know all about it!! Yes, half day slots are available (or they were).

I couldn't resist getting a few GTR/Ws out there infront of the UK's most dedicated and established autosport celebration!! No heart eating required Wayne, just the thought of showcasing these awsome tools infront of the crowd will suffice.

Richard - wanna double your sales figures? Get yer 720 down there!!!

If anyone else fancies a go here's the details.....but hurry now, places are going fast!!

Here is the linky:

^^^ Sorry old chum, I took it for what I thought it was; a selfless act hehe
This is what often happens when folk move on from Ultima ownership, they stay in touch or still involved but in a far more relaxed fashion and in a very back seat kind of way but it is appreciated, honest yes

For us long distance followers of all the action, I would be grateful if you could fill us in with some engine spec details? Are there any specific changes to the Factory upgraded Suspension spec as well? Good luck GTWayne excited for you, wish you all the best. (Junior Ultima follower - still lots too learn, currently totally confused on which engine spec to go for).

Watcha Jim wavey, good to see you over here. There are two basic routes to building an Ultima. A/ Factory spec, all available engine combinations available can be viewed on the website ( although I have never looked myself ) or B/ your spec which means the world is your oyster, and a confusing oyster at that. For an idea of some alternatives take a look through the build specs found at the top of the Forum page.

^^^ Final piece of the puzzle Chris, this was certainly the most problematic part of the scenario. Steps have been taken to eradicate this problem for good using replacement parts where necessary and the services of a fresh technician have been enlisted as often a different approach can be as important as a correct diagnosis and cure.
