Hi All,

I tried to search this subject but with no luck.

Has anybody thought of using the new Porsche DSG transaxle in their Ultimas?
Do you know of anybody who have used it in a mid engine setup?
Are there any alternatives (like for example Audi engine/gearbox combo)?
Aside from the price, what are the potential challenges that may rise?

Regards and thanks in advance. smile

oh, So it is called PDK.. no wonder I didn't find anything.. redface

I loved the concept of this gearbox as you can have both Manual and Automatic. It will be great for every day drive.

I don't have a problem with the price but, it will be a waste to buy an expensive gearbox that will not fit in the end.

the bigger problem will be that this box is controlled by some smart electronic device which will be the hardest part to integrate in an ultima project.

Anybody using the Gearfox TSR ? Any feedback ?
I'm considering to sell my Ricardo due to difficulties finding spares, and the TSR looks nice (and expensive).
Cheers,

How expensive? Any ideas? Didn't find anything price wise on their site.

It looks like the Koenigsegg CCX and CCGT use a Gearfox box, manual for the CCX and sequential for the CCGT

Yes I'm using the 6 speed H Pattern GearFox MT900 Box. The gear change being designed for cables makes the shifting lovely with a Porsche Shifter Mech and Knob, and having a 35mph/1000rpm top gear with 28" rear tyres and Std Ratio set it's going to be a real cruising gear with the possibility for very high top speeds if you have the power. Has a Mechanical internal Oil Pump for lubrication and ports to connect a cooler externally as well. Boxes are near £12K though. But if you want the best then you have to pay for it....

£12K for the H pattern !!! ? My godness. I payed £11k for my magnesium Ricardo GT3 and it seems astronomical for me. Probably in the region of £16k for the TSR (I guest) pffff !

It seems to be the std Hyper car Box of choice at present, and wanted something with a proven record of taking over 800bhp. I like touring around and going to drag races and track days but still driving home.... I also have a race car Driver (My version of a Stig) lined up to set some fast circuit times for me. Leguna Seca has allot of times set by Hyper cars etc, so I can judge by them how quick we are....
