Silverstone GP Tuesday

Hi Rusti, I assume you are there for the Goldtrack day session?
I will be there for the evening session, but I am not driving (or taking the Ult)! Any chance of a passenger ride if I get there in time?
No rain yet, I heard the whole week was going to be p!ss poor, so we may be lucky.
Cheers,
Phil

Head gaskets done and pick the car up from garage 7.30 this evening - straight to hotel - silly tight timing I know.
Got the day with Mike Wilds who knows a thing or two about Group C type stuff so should be good. Mike is doing the evening with Russell Hird in his fabulous Ruf RS.
Also fitted the new super improved lifters with forced lubrication to the needles from that terribly nice Mr Charles Dunn.

As long as we don't have rain it will be the BLUE BMW M3 to watch out for
The GTW needs a re-map since installing the new roller cam and so Spot II will again be pressed into service and after first meeting young Dunn Junior @ Brands last year I am looking forward to meeting him again and comparing notes
I am hoping to have the GTW ready for Goodwood on the 24th of this month but I need to get it quieter first

Wondered why I didn't see Wayne, now I know, bad luck that.

Phil, sorry we missed each other - it would have been great to meet up.
First thing, Mike Wilds treated me to a half hour masterclass on just how silly fast an Ultima really can be

To experience the guy finessing and dancing the thing on the limit was absolutely awesome.
Silverstone unfortunately exposed my driving inadequacies and as you saw I bimbled around like a complete willy. Some of Wayne's kill maim destroy I have no fear of dying, driving style would be useful. Perhaps I could get an enormous pair of bollocs sewn on by the NHS

R888 tyres fantastic. If Ray West can get rid of a tad more understeer and some rear body roll it will be joyous.
Goodwood, Top Gear, Goodwood then Snett - wot fun

Hi Wayne did you see that flash of Gav's BMW as he passed. He damm quick normally, just imagine what he would do if unleashed in one of our Ultima's.
Watcha Brian
, indeed, I did see Gavin go past me in the first session and then I returned the gesture in the second session. In all fairness, he was having problems with his tyres initially and the fact that he was on his 16th visit to the GP Circuit and I was on my first probably didn't help me any but once he got sorted he was certainly going well. I was unable to continue after the first two sessions on two counts; Oil starvation brought on the dreaded death rattle + I had two slicks showing canvass so I had to sit it out and wait for home time
Not to take anything away from young Gavin but I do feel that to get the best from an Ultima it has to be studied and learned and is a very different drive to a BMW, but it would be interesting to see what he might make of a stint behind the wheel of a proper car
, may be Stuart will let him pilot X8 the next time they find themselves at the same venue
Hi Wayne
Hope to join you on one of these days soon. Gav tells me 19th August at Brands is the next, are you up for that one, I hope to be back on the road for that. I am a brands virgin myself so would be looking for any sort of guidance and will have the pace of a shopping trolley.
I know what you mean about tyres I have done Silverstone with a set of fronts on canvas, it turned the Ultima into a lawn mower.
