Wheel options.

Hello,

I have purchased the part built kit which was on Pistonheads, the one with the wooden wheels. I'm looking at different wheel designs at the moment and I see that some of the photos in the gallery show Dymags which are center locking which I quite like.

Do the factory offer a center lock hub for these wheels or is it a matter of getting them made myself? I have seen Grasser racing center lock hubs but 6800.00 euros is out of my budget.

Are we limited to a few wheel manufactures for the Ultima? Looking back through the pages I can only find these manufacturers

If you plan to use the car on the road it might be worth getting it finished/registered before race type wheel fitments. I'm not sure how the new inspection system views centre-locks etc.

I do agree though, wheels can really make or break the car.

Sometimes its worth studying wheel designs in detail, even a minor change (narrow painted pinstripe/ alternate spoke detail etc,etc) can really change what initially appeared a bland design!!

Hi David,

In about 9 days i take delivery of my new wheels.

19" fronts & 20" rears. I have spent months getting measurements, speaking to the very best in the after wheel manufacturers.

Ive gone for Trafficstar STR.
Tyres - 345/25zr/20 on the rears.

They are by no means cheap and not everyones cup of tea but do demonstrate that the ultima can be tailored to your individual requirements.

Cost depends on whether you want a complete replacment pin drive hub or the adapter style that bolts on to the existing hub as used on many GT40/Cobra kits.

Vintage Wheels ( http://www.vintagewheelsus.com/products-pinDrive.p... ) here in the US offers adapters for their wheels to fit std Ford/Chevy stud spacing for $560/set. They will also machine adapters to fit non std applications as would be required for the 5 x 112mm Ultima hubs.

I'm sure there must be similar available in the UK.

Mark, I think the STR's look great. Just seen a pic of the rims on a Ferrari 430, very nice. Can you post some pics when the body is fitted?

Personally I like it when the tyre manufacturer name is painted as well e.g. yellow or white. Just think it looks 'racey'
