Front Clip Struts

Has anybody thought/designed struts for front clip?

The folding stay does all I need.
What would interest me is ubber cool power struts that open and close both clips at the press of a button after releasing the latches.

I have gas struts on the front of mine, but I had to modify the front with two custom made brackets. I will post a picture if interested. Bought the struts from www.strutsdirect.co.uk

Please post pics. Crazy mentioned this last week and sounded a good idea.
It should protect the front pivot point that needs to be reglassed in after a few years due to the front clip flexing/sticking on one side while opening!

What a damn good idea! Love to know which specific ones to order though. Can you give us a clue?

I suffer from the 'Bends!' Painful I know - but it seems that my strut is a bit soft, has a mind of its own and given the chance will bend all over the place when the front clip is being closed.

Your mod would solve this!

Thanks Blue, just emerged from under front clip having just embedded new capive nut with fibreglass (hate that stuff). Anything to prevent that again would be good.

Hi Chaps,

These are the Struts I used:

They are adjustable, so you can just let the gas out till you get the right amount of force. My clip opens really easily, does not flap about, and is damped as it fully extends. Really pleased with how it works...

would you consider making this set up as a kit so I could buy one from you like you did with the 6 point harness tether?

Let me have a look at it for you. I would have to change the front bracket to fit possibly, but should be fairly easy. If there is interest for a kit, I could get prices for warterjet cut brackets. I made mine by hand which was fairly time consuming with all the "fettling"!

Would anyone else be interested?

I would be - would need to measure first as my clip is inspired (aka blatant ripoff) by Waynes..

After a couple of hours I came up with this- works well with front splitter but not sure if you want to open the clip fully.
