I have managed to kill beyond repair one of my rear tyres, which unfortunately leaves me just one which has decent tread left. I have Michelin Pilot Sport on, which I think not many people here use, but I have found them ok for my ability. Question is does anyone here have a spare one with good tread for sensible money or does anybody need a spare one for sensible money. I'm not sure whether to change for something else or stick with them, but the answer to the question will probably make my mind up.
Thanks. Andy

If you are able to move the one good tyre you have on then by all means do so and then invest in a set of Toyo 888's, you will not regret it wink

But Toyo don't make a 245/35-18 size, closest are 245/40-18 or 255/35-18 and I hear conflicting feedback on wether these tires scrub the bodywork?

yep it depends on your body fit but you may need to make some minor adjustments to get the 255 fronts to fit but it will be worth it.

I have 225/40 X 18's on the GTW and have no interference problems. Although the tyre maybe 20mm narrower there is no less mechanical grip as this is more determined by the suspension geometry as opposed to increased or decreased tyre footprint ( within reason ). Also where the tyre is stretched onto the rim it not only incorporates some of the tread from around the tyres perimeter but looks more akin to the rear tyre which is also stretched a little and is actually specified for a slightly narrower rim than the Ultima uses as standard yes

Hmmm, I thought everyone loved the Kumho's - how things change! So who has them and do they fancy loaning their GTR to me for a few days to give the tyres a test.... laugh

Is there a preference on compounds and any recommendations on cheapest place to get them?

Thanks. Andy

I think the Khumo is more of a track focused tyre that can be used on the road as opposed to the 888 being the other way round. The 888 comes with a lot more tread when new and behaves noticeably better in the wet with only heavy standing water causing any real problem. The choice of compound on the 888 is easy - they only come in one!

I've tried the Toyo R888 in 245/40/18 and they scratched the bodywork.
Now i've new Toyo R888 in 255/35/18 and they fit perfectly even in hard cornering
on trackdays...

Are these prices + Vat or inc Vat?
Rumour has it that Toyo are reducing their suppliers down to 6.
There is a guy in Southampton who quotes me @ £785 + Vat Delivered.

The Toto agents in Hong Kong are quoting 335/30's not 335/40's

Are the Toyo rears 335/40 or 335/30?

Also, what are the best prices you guys are getting in the UK?
