Identify a cable gear change

Hi guys, I was wondering if you might be able to help me identify and locate a part for a cable gear change. I have one fitted to my GTM (which I didn't build), all I know is it is "from an Ultima" and was bought new from eBay.

The kit:


The broken bit is a socket that attaches to the ball underneath the gear stick:


The thread on the end of the cable stripped the plastic thread on the socket (seems unsurprising to me, it's a shallow thread and the other one doesn't look much better). The cable also pulled the end clean off.

Anyone recognise it? Or maybe a standard part?

Porshe 996 gearshift as supplied by ultima.They don't carry any spares.
The piece which has broken often breaks even in porshe's.
I think I have a replacement one which is much stronger from an aftermarket supplier if not I can get one for you.
incidentaly I have just replaced the bushes at the front and back of mine which had also broken with some aluminium ones which make the gearshift a lot less sloppy.
Your broken cable piece also comes in the kit. All in @£150 I think PM me

I had this part break during a race day so my mate stripped down the link on his Ford Galaxy and it fit without modification - good job as as we were at Snetterton and he had to swap it back for the long journey home to Manchester - worth a try and it's got to be cheaper than £150.

Sounds like a stroke of good luck for you there Chewy! I am going to get an aftermarket solution that Mark refers to, for £40. Not the £11 that the builder paid for the whole kit, but better than £150 and should hopefully not break again. It does seem a weak point, I'm surprised at Porsche.
