The idea of increasing the pitch for cornering/braking and then reducing it for low drag seems quite nice, but the angles they were using seemed pretty extreme. Even in a straight line, rear down force can be required to maintain lateral stability. I suppose they probably used the extreme angles to make the effect obvious to the camera.Differential pitch from side to side in cornering is imo a gimic. They're taking the downforce off the outer wheel (presumably trying to resist body roll) but that downforce is still producing grip and the car will corner faster with it.
If the tyres or aerodynamics are so sensitive to roll angle that body attitude is important, then they would be better off fitting active roll control, and if the vehicle is at the level of performance where this sort of extreme measure is worth bothering with then the engineers designing it should be well aware of that. However, I doubt it's aimed at any competitive motorsport vehicles since moveable aerodynamic aids are explicitly banned from most forms of motorsport.

You've made some great observations. For the S2 carbon wing, the split feature is designed as a weight transfer mechanism. Adding downforce to one side, and reducing it on the other side, maintains the front | rear balance, while shifting weight inside. What's it worth? About .1 sec on a two minute lap time. Here's test data from an independent pro driver.

While the S2 Dynamic wing is our flagship, the new R2 carbon wing delivers 80% of the benefit for half the cost (it's not split). In fact, it broke a 5-year-old skid pad record at The Tire Rack.
The R2 is also available as a static, upgradeable car spoiler. AMS already set a track record at Nashville Super Speedway with this static wing. They're upgrading to active now

You can't mean a single tenth of a second in 120 seconds - surely !
In a 2 minute lap time, that could be achieved by visiting the toilet before going on track....

You're right, for most of us, the advantage of the split is in the noise when it comes to lap times. Pro's like Gary, however, can CONSISTENTLY turn in lap times .1 seconds faster. In the level that Gary competes, that's the differential between win and loss. You turn off the split, he slows down. It's fun not to tell him, LOL.
The carbon rear wing chord is 10.2". The width is 65" If you click on the specifications tab, it has all the wing dimensions, AoA range, weight, etc.
The controller uses a 3 axis accelerometer, and speed input from the VSS (vehicle speed sensor).

Did it fit in the same position on the body work as the standard Ultima Spoiler e.g. are the upright's spacing adjustable?

Maybe its Bugati style... stop car, open door,remove key, adjust spoiler, start car, close door, carry on racing....... All done in 20 seconds, but saves 20.1 seconds per lap.Does it connect to the steering or does it have a g sensor to detect cornering?

Well from a personal point of view the performance increase of the wing will do nothing for me, but i have to say it does look very good.
Maybe a fixed version, with the correct dimensions in a style like this would be a winner. Just a personal opinion, nothing wrong with the original just an alternative.
