Ultima Germany?
Discussion
No Ultima is road legal in Germany.
You will need some help to legalize it
and you need to make some serious
modifications to the car. I´m building a GTR in Germany, not yet finished, and hope to legalize it without too much problems in 2004.
Email me for further informations. Too much to explain and boring for all outside Germany I assume.

Pauly, Doc,
as there are no certificates available from the factory that will be approved by the TÜV it is very difficult and expensive to legalize an Ultima in Germany. I think it would be nearly impossible for me to get my GTR on the road without the help of a friend of Ted Marlow who lives in Germany.
He regularly builds cars as a hobby and is a approved car manufacturer. He has the knowledge, the experience and the connections to make a legalisation possible.
The regulations a car has to meet in Germany only depend on the date of it´s first registration. Due to that it is necessary for me to use an engine that meets the actual emmission and noise regulations. I use a BMW V8 from 1998 with an especially manufactured exhaust system with two cats. There are of course other possible engines. Easiest way I think is the LS1 from the current Corvette as it was used by other Ultima builders. As the exhaust system of my engine is not the original one usually an expensive emmission test would be necessary but I hope the know-how of Ted´s friend makes legalisation possible without it. Anyway I will try to register the car in 2004 as from 1.1.2005 the Euro4 emmision standard will make things more difficult.
