The question ought to be for how many days can it run at 8000 rpm's. Blocks can get shagged fairly quickly if run like that for to long.

More than likely all day, for one day, then everything that moves gets binned during a 20 grand rebuild.

That's the reality of that sort of motor. 30 hours typical life.

why would you want to rev to 8k???? it makes no sense to me when youve got 450+ftlbs

No Liners?!?!?!?!?!?! im sure they must run some kind of liner or coating. i know ERL are doing some very intresting stuff these days with liners.

PS. i have found an alternative engine. still LS based but one that cna be stereched to 500cubic inch displacement!!!!

Doesn't clarify the block material beyound being aluminium. Could be silicone impregnated ie alusil.

The high torque is fine for a heavy car but the light weight of an Ultima is best matched with high revs.

A bit irrelevant? but Briggs + Stratton American engines I have have aluminium blocks and no liners they go on forever .

Now there's a thought. Cheap as chips secondhand, a fraction of the weight, and no problems with cooling.

I thought that Briggs & Stratton made lawn mower engines and such like. Should it not be Pratt & Miller?
