Hello, i fancy doing an oil change on my ultima as i've just replaced the dipstick and would like to make sure its at the correct level.

Only problem i have, is i don't know how much oil i need to stick in.. any ideas?

It's a 4 Bolt 1970 SBC 5.7 V8,high performance nickel block - apparently ;-). Hasn't got a dry sump.

Many thanks

Craig.

All the specs you quoted mean nothing to the oil capacity.

What sump has it got fitted to it? If you have a part number the makers web site will quote its capacity in Quarts.

Mine is a 7 Quart Canton sump (oil pan).

ar right, Thanks Steve.
Not too sure what sump it's got, i thought they were all the same!
I was thinking of getting another one as mine has a dent in it that i can see looking from underneath. Can't see any codes on it, but i've not looked that closely.

Any suggestions on what to replace it with?

seen this one, but not sure if it'll fit?

Is the dent causing a problem? If not then leave it alone. How many people can see it.

If you do replace then the most important is the height of the sump so that it will clear the chassis rail.
Have a look under and see if you can find a makers name either as a sticker or pressed into the steel. From there you should be able to identify it from their web site.
