Wraps -- Instead of Respray..

Just wondering what the pros and cons are to getting an Ultima 'wrapped' as opposed to respray.

I recall there was a couple of GTR's done but can't find them through the Search feature.

Rob its very expensive to wrap, and if you do need to remove it, you have to be very careful as not to damage the gell coat then you end up spraying it anyway, ask ufo2nob with the red Can-Am !

Here`s a GTR in a matte black wrap (white gel coat btw). Ultimas are harder to wrap due to the huge body parts with big curvatures. Matte is even harder as it can`t be stretched:

That's excellent what I was thinking of (Matt Blue) as Matt or Silk colours look very good but may date.
How much did that cost or did you do it yourself.

I had it done by a professional, they charged around 1600€ which is very little for the work they`ve done. It took about 4 days to complete and there actually are some cuts (which are totally necessary due to the shape), but they follow the shape of the bodywork nicely.

Wrapping is less expensive than paint in my experience, see what raccoon do here, they're not the cheapest wrappers but do good work. www.raccoon.co.uk

Since a while has gone by after this subject was raised, I wondered if those who went the body-wrap route would give us the benefit of their experience?

Specifically cost, quality of work, longlevity against the elements, and how the wrap has faired with every-day resistance to stone-chips and other hazards.

Does it still look good?
Anything lifted?
Was the wrap moulded round the door returns etc?

Generally what would we be getting into and how does it measure up to expectations?
