Hi Gents, I need help with identifying what the diamond plate (outlined in the red box)is. What is the function of the 3 bolts? My middle bolt is lose, and I notice some gear oil leak. Thanks.

There is a spring loaded plunger behind that which I believe provides the resistance to going into reverse.

According to the workshop manual the the hex nut is used for the following.

"adjust inner shift rod so that all gears can be selected freely without binding. To achieve this undo hexagon head bolts on clamping plate and turn eccentric bushing (one in the middle)"

Probably need to replace the oil seal. As has been said the plate clamps the adjuster. The eccentric adjuster provide a few mm front\back movement of the selector shaft to aid alignment\selection. Pics below for clarity.

Thanks for your answers. I unbolted the cover plate to have a better inspection. In the process, I moved the center bolt and now can't get reverse. What is the correct procedure to adjust the inner shift rod to get all gears?
