Sports Wing Dimensions, anyone have them?
Discussion
Hi all. I've just bought James' Sports and now I'm looking to have a wing made for the car. Can anyone who has the factory-supplied wing (the tranny mounted version) give me a couple of measurements? I'd really just like to know the overall width of the wing, the cord width (just measure the wing front to back), and the distance between the wing mounts.
I'm sure you're wondering why I don't just buy the stock piece? Well, I think a cleaner multi-element wing could be made custom here in the US by a company that makes the wings for one of our series. Having said that, I will be using the tranny mount, hence the need for that measurement. The other measurements would be nice guidlines to have as well
Thanks in advance for any help!

If it’s any help to you both, here are the GTR measurements. I think the CanAm is the same size but could not be sure.
Lower wing element….1655mm long, 215mm cord, 50 cord depth.
Upper wing element….1655mm long, 100mm cord, 18 cord depth.
The upper element sits back so the total cord is 285mm.
There is an 18mm slot between upper and lower.
The fixing rose joints are 35mm from the leading edge, 215mm front to back and 820mm apart.
The mounts are 150mm high.

I'll take the measurements for my Sports and get back to you with them. Sorry for letting this post slip through the cracks. I can also get you the pylon dimensions and the subframe dimensions if you need them. Also, to answer D3vine's question regarding the downforce generated by the sports, I've been told that it is due to the wing being positioned further back(out of the boundary of the bodywork). A lot of the sanctioning bodies have enforced restrictions against this(though I'm not sure if it was for safety or to restrict the downforce potential).
Cheers!

That would be great! You're in the US, BM? I'm in LA, whereabout are you? Ever track your car?
Yes. Corpus Christi, Texas. Had the car to my local track once, but then the Navy took the airfield away from us after 9/11. Its being used to train new pilots. Hoping to gain access to it again sometime this year though.
Cheers!

Not to hijack my own thread, but Texas World Speedway, just outside College Station, is an excellent track that's got events going on all the time, fyi. It's a "Roval" where you drive a little over 1/4 the oval, and dive into a very good infield track for the remainder of the lap.
I know it's quite a ways from you, but it's worth the drive. I flew in to drive it, and it was well worth it
