CANAM mirror stalks

Fellow hairdressers. These are the new mirror stalks supplied to me by the factory installed. They appear to be twice as long as any other stalks that I can find on other Canams and 1 wobble about all over the place and 2 seem to be a little excessive. Is this the correct length? If so they will need some serious stiffening inside the door. They do give a very good view over the rear spoiler though. Your comments however rude much appreciated.

Too long, I'll bet that they buy the extrusions that length and then normally trim them prior to shipping. You will likely need to stiffen the doors anyway despite trimming the stalks. Maybe you could make the hole in the top of the door large enough to pass the stalk to a mounting plate deep in the door, that would cure the vibration problem.

Please bear in mind that I did not build the car. When I purchased it the mirror stalks had been reduced to about 2 inches in length and there was no visibility to the rear.
They are mounted to the top skin of the door. Is this the usual way to mount or should it be done differently? The idea of them going through the door to mount on the bottom seems good.
Trimming them is not possible as there is a threaded section top and bottom of the stalk.

A nice little ring of Carbon should sort you out there. Make the ID suit your stalk and the OD large enough to cover your skin holes. [Sensible mode] I would think you want the post upright in all planes with the car on level ground. Set the post in place so you can see roughly where it will sit inside the door, Move it and put a blob of Bluetac in the bottom of the door where the post was. Now with the door closed and the post completely upright push it down to make an impression in the bluetac. Remove post and drill through the impressions left in the bluetac.[/Sensible mode]

Not sure if we are on the same wavelength.The final alignment of the post is done from the outside of the car using the section sticking up through the top of the door. Move it around until it is vertical (spirit level) then push down on it to impress the bluetac which is on the inside of the bottom of the door.
