Hi!

As Ultima factory posted here:

http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f...

They are working on a new adaptor plate, starter motor, and exhaust system design to accommodate the later 996 Carrera 2 gearbox on LS engines. As I'm going to use an LS7 I was wondering if you guys could say what you think about it. Is the 996 C2 stronger than the previous Getrag?

I was on the GT2 gearbox way, but this could work really good as it's an Ultima factory option.

why do you want to spend so much money on the gear box, G50 with modified gears is just ok.
Mine is doing just fine with a longer 5th gear and I paid less then 2000 pounds for it including the longer 5th gear.

I don't want to spend more money than necessary, but I'm looking for a proper gearbox using cables instead of the rod linkage... and it's not easy to find!

Yes! I have already contacted Clive, but then I thought that this box might be "too exclusive". I mean, if I ever have problems with a Getrag, G50 or GT2 box I know some companies that can help. With a GFox gearbox could be harder...

there is always some on german ebay,

http://cgi.ebay.de/Porsche-964-C4-Getriebe_W0QQite...

he has two of them one with LSD and one without. It is 4WD butI think that does not make any difference.

here one that was overhauled with warranty and only 27k kilometers
