depends if you have an OBD diagnostics plug???
You everyday road car has a diag plug, usually on the drivers side of the car that can be used to diagnose your, engine, ABS, airbag etc etc
It give a P code which help technicians diagnose faults on your car..
I doubt your ultima has one, (certainly not on ultima loom) but might be on an LS engine loom???)
As for the part, it will most likely work on your engine, but what they are advertising is it will work on cars that do have and need OBD diagnoses.....

All ECU's will have some sort of port for connection to a computer.
OBD2 is a standard architecture for the plug and the wire configuration that allows all cars to be read with the same equipment. A smart move bythe industry to ensure that garages can work on all makes and models.
If you are running a GM ECU it will definitely be OBD2, not sure if the aftermarket ECU's use OBDII or their own port systems.
Anyone considering an EFI engine should get a copy of book in the link below, it explains how EFI systems work, the function of all the sensors etc.
