Hi all,

Are the seats in the ultima unchanged since the sport, and the same for the CAN-AM.

Might have the chance of some second hand ones from a 1999 sport

I'm sure they are. Depends from when. Things like that tend to evolve. Check with the factory.

They will need to look smart if you are to convince registration that it is a 'New' car.

Yes I am told they are perfect.

Still a grey area trying to save money and SVA, will the SVA require receipts for every single part of the car.

I don't think it's SVA that needs them it's the DVLA or what ever they call them selves. My understanding is they do need the receipts. But whether they actually go through them all is another matter.
When I registered my JBA Falcon I had to hand over the whole ring binder of receipts. I put postit tabs on the top of each of the main receipts for chassis, body, wheels and the donor. The length of time I sat in the waiting room would imply that they did not look very hard.

Do the receipts have to be in the builders name or could I for example have the receipt which proved the part was new when the original purchaser bought the part.

I assume that if buying parts from a company they can issue a receipt which then is ok anyway

I really would like to buy all new from factory but I like this idea of saving money. IMHO for me anyway

I am such a tight arse, but if I could build a stunner for sub 30K or even under 30K I think that would be as clever as someone building the fastest Ultima

I get the impression that they drop test the reciepts. In other words, they drop the pile on the desk, and if it makes a good enough "thud" when it lands, it's ok

As has been stated the newness issue is for registration at your local Vehicle Registration Office (and nothing to do with SVA). What they want to know is that you've built the car from new parts. I don't think there are hard and fast rules about names on receipts, but if I were the guy in the office and someone presented a receipt dated 4 years ago in someone else's name I might be just a tad suspicious!

In my case I had a letter confirming newness of all the parts from the factory - despite this the VRO still wanted to see the receipts. They got them, a folder full of them!

As I said, I also had a folder full with the JBA.
I repeat that I believe putting named tabs on the top of the major receipts prompted the VRO to look at just those in conjunction with James’s drop test.

Brian, if you can build your CanAm for sub £30's can you let me in on your secret.
I've been going through the latest factory prices (GTR)and I'm struggling to keep it under the 40K mark!
I'll also be looking for 'new' secondhand parts
The Sports on the Club web site for 33K is looking tempting!

Yes, build cost are easy in excess of £40K but of course that is spread over as long as period as you want.

I just hope that I can source as many unwanted New parts as possible.

Have possibly found a few from a builder that does not require them. They are new and he can give me a receipt for as new.

Part of my build will be to source as many parts as possible during the course of my build.

So the secret is patience or am I just dreaming.
Difficulty is registration, do not want a Q plate as I have a private plate I want to put on - BIYEE.

Thats why I can only buy fast cars .
