Anyone found a source here for the parts needed to reproduce the excellent steering wheel harness that CJ has devised? If so I would greatly appreciate a list for your sources.

If not, Ultima or CJ...are you interested in marketing a kit.

I have seen cheap remote controls sold at advanced auto part / pep boys type places that let you turn on interior lights or roll down windows, etc. I belive the ones I saw let you control 2 or 3 items. You could probably make it work.

Grant makes a RF steering wheel that allows you to control up to 3 switched accessories. I am considering this for my turn indicators. I would rather go with a flat bottomed wheel for ease of entry into the car though. Still noodling on that one...

They also make a steering wheel center "disc" that allows you to control 6 switched items via RF as well, but I don't think this would pass the UKs SVA test, based on what I have seen/heard from our UK brethren...

Just wanted to let you know I found a nice 4 channel wireless relay control box. The key chain controller has 4 separate buttons (on/off) that control 4 different built in 15 amp relays.

Thanks for the reply. Have you found a source for the button plate mount and....any details on how you put it in. Ideally I would like to have a set of buttons as Chris does. I don't mind taking the transmitter apart to connect it to larger buttons mounted on the wheel.

I'm waiting on a plan like this before drilling holes in the dash for the turn signal "stalk" supplied with the factory loom.

The buttons come with the mounts, both from www.ogracing.com/eshop/home.asp?categ=168

Wiring was easy I just took the circuit board out of the case and soldered 2 wires to the back side of each button. Use a small gauge wire, Radio shack sells a nice 24 gauge 4-wire cable. The board is pretty empty but you have to attach 8 wires. I cut the top section of the case off and just wrapped up the wires in electrical tape.

I want to do something like this as well. Unfortunately, The wheel I want to use (Momo Trek) is smaller and it will be more difficult to "hide" the PC board behind it. Still noodling on that one...

I have a related question. Without the benifit of seeing the steering column, etc, I don't know if the Momo wheel needs an adapter, or will the momo wheel bolt diectly to the factory shaft?

Allen,
The steering column flange is blank - you need to drill it to match your steering wheel or adapter pattern. For my GTR, I have adapted a 2 stalk control I found new-surplus. This required extending the upper column 1.3" which, coincidentlly, helps my knees clear under the wheel. I'll make a CF cover for the bulk of the assembly that matches the dash cover pattern.

In the UK we have to have a crush zone. This is a pressed steel ring which is also the adaptor from the factory flange on the end of the shaft and the back of the steering wheel. This is hollow and should be big enough to hide the transmitter.

Here's the sources for my set up: Switches came from www.digikey.com and were part number 507PB-ND at a cost of a whopping $1.07 each. The waterproof boots for the switches were part number 513PB-ND at $.56 each.....I bought some spares as well. The transmitter came from Dakota Digital www.dakotadigital.com/products.cfm/-/Category=111/category111.htm and was $150-$200.
