Don't know about you lot but I have always fancied a full on turbo installation like the Nissan NPTI etc.

RRRaaaaaaaarr Phyysst, RRaaaaaaar phyyysst, cloud9cloud9 awesome motors..........

I always thought the 4G64 was an ideal engine, so it's interesting to see what Simon Norris has come up with. This is a twin charger setup on Morrisons pump fuel. Clearly there's loads more to come with more dyno time race gas etc.

Tons of room in the rear clip, supercharger on one side of the motor, turbo on the other. As ever the problem as to where to stash the intercooler remains.

Never going to be done but a glorious thought..... (to me anyway)

Rusti, simons stuff is amazing, and this engine is going to push the 4G63 engine even further! supposed to be a bolt on option for the EVOs. Im guessing its a positive displacement SC mounted below the intake manifold. Hopefully Simon wuill be bypassing the supercharger once the turbo is doing the boosting. That way you can run a BIG turbo, still get neck snapping throttle response but not run the risk of REALLY high intake temps.

i have to ask the question, why isn't this an ideal engine??? small, compact, high reving, loads of power and good torque. as for the intecooler i recon you could fit a pretty large air to water charge cooler infront of the engine. seems like a good option to me smile

its a shame that alot of people probably wont be quiet so intrested in putting this engine in an ultima as yourself though Rusti..... frown

Occurs to me that the great thing about Simon's latest effort is that the power curve shows it will be tractable. The conventional high power Evo motor with it's violent step-like power delivery would be a horrid undriveable thing in an Ultima I reckon.

The supercharger/turbo combo looks the way to go.

How much will it cost and how long will it last for - the answers are probably good reasons a lot of owners wouldn't consider it?

Must admit thats the first high power 4 banger graph I've ever seen that resembles a V8 power delivery. As noted, they usally put 150BHP until 5500 rpm and the the power goes up nearly vertically to some crazy figure.

As with the triple rotor turbo this would be totally out of place in a weekend poser, but for an action car it could be a hoot. Being a slightly "difficult" sort of chap I like examining some of the more unusual solutions to stuff.

For me this gives a feeling of an alternative solution..........

That sounds nice, but it's a V6 isn't it, not a 4 pot like the Norris engine?

Cost would be higher than a V8. but reliability should be pretty good. Simon Norris builds these engine for road cars. even on very low boost and V-power they still make 800bhp (this was on privous none supercharged engines but i woulf think a similar figure could be obtained form this if not more thanks to the larger/more efficent turbo (cooler intake charge) and higher revs (using the longer 4G64 block with a better rod ratio than the 4G63)). Simon also raced his car for 2 seasons with this engine (agian minus supercharger)! eventually he had to totally redeign the car to allow full use of the power without destroying gearboxes and diffs!

I see no reason why this enigne shouldn't last as long as the 720bhp AS SBC units. Both are probably in simlar states of tune in kill mode. However this engine can be turned down to nutter mode to help keep it together longer. smile

Chris.

PS. here is a guy that has used his 1000+bhp evo daily!!! http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=241...
