Out of curiosity, anybody have any idea how many ultima's have been sold to date? Obviously not looking for an exact number, just curious if it's between 1000 and 1500, 200 and 300, etc....? Thanks.

I would guess only Richard or Ted would know. My guess would be 502 for what it is worth.

Well, in the Ultima site it does state over 400 in 2003 http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/Content.aspx?f=histo... so imagine the figure could be close to or over the 500 mark IMO.

When I was at the factory late '08 I asked that questiuon and the answer was that they had broken the 1000 barrier and that GTR's outsold CanAm's by 3:1.

Using my early chassis number, It works out to about 70 cars a year average over the past 12 years. I am always surprised the Canam didn't sell more - and I know Ted is/was. The fact that you can use it open in the summer and full screen and soft top in the winter, and its lighter, more headroom etc .....would have been a winner I would have thought ??

They must have really upped sales over the last few years. As stated on their website it took from 1992 to 2003 to clear 400. About 36 a year.

That's 600 sales in 7 years. About 85 a year.

Does that 1000 sales include a full order book going years into the future?

You might know that I am working on a Hard Top for the CanAm, that has gullwing opening function, so best car access ever, fully wheater proof and the option of removing the 2 top covers and put them behind the seats. They will also fix the side window opening problem at high speeds as the roofs will hold the windows against the seals.
That might change the sales situation in the future.
I have finished making the bulkhead model and the next step is creating the mould for this part and then once we have the first prototype ready we will work on the model of the roof covers. I plan to show this hard top solution at stoneleigh (carbon what else.....)

Look forward to seeing it. I have thought about trying to fit something similar to my spyder but I don't think its possible. I cant fit the full screen unfortunately as the channel it sits on isnt on the spyder..

So that's 1 hairdresser to every 3 Men.... Sounds about right.
1000 Ultima's might be considered nearly common now on the road now....
