6 point cage in a canam
Discussion
I'm keen to know what the recommendation is as I too am facing more and more questions and scrutineering on track days now... especially once the organizers see how quick it is. Most organizers assume the front winsscreen to be more structural than it is and I've shyed away from fitting the half screen for exactly that reason, but IMHO it's just a matter of time before I have to drop down the groups or fit a cage.
Question is would a central brace or double brace from the front hoop to rear suffice? Most sanctioning bodies require the front to rear brace to be outside the drivers head, which effectively means a GTR doesn't qualify either. Secondly if it is to be a bolt in then assuming there is accessible chassis to bolt the front hoop to I think it should be possible to fabricate side pieces that clamp over the exisitng rear roll hoop.

Hello Mark,
Multiple vintage Can-Am cars used a small oval in the rear body work to allow passage of rear down tubes from the roll bar. The down tubes pivoted on bolts near the rear suspension and were also attached to the main roll hoop. When the rear body work opened the upper bolts were removed and the lower bolts stayed in place. You could use some rubber covered window edge to form the border for the hole in the bodywork.
It isn't supposed to be possible but....its obvious that your car has too much power;)
