Towing Eyes

Have seen a few other posts on this. My car does not have towing eyes and since I wish to use it on track sometimes. I need to sort it out.
Have seen some nice ones ie on Lucky p's old car. Are these the factory ones. Can anybody confirm what the factory ones look like? Cheers

i have factory ones on mine..

There are pictures of it on the Ultima photos at the top of the page, page 6, the silver one DOM1P as the reg. You will see the towing eyes in the photos..

Mark, I have a new factory set for the rear I probably wont be using. Tow Eye is the same as the front but naturally mounts differently (think it's two bolts onto the chassis instead of the three onto alloy as per the front).

PM me if you're interested, will offload at half the factory price (whatever that is).

Oh SSS does a kit that's probably a little better for the front as it doesn't mount to the alloy panel but onto the Frame. Just a thought (that I didn't follow as mine has factory on the front).

Mine were factory front and rear. Took a lot of time measuring the arc prescribed by the clip before cutting the mesh and front clip to ensure that there was no loss of protection to the rad.

The rear I had to space as it fouled the rear clip. Perhaps I was suposed to cut the rear clip but we went for a spacer instead.

Factory solution works very well. My build philosophy was - use factory unless you can do 'better'. Mines almost entirely Factory!

Yes, I found that too, that's why I didn't mount. Figured if I slide off it's usually backwards anyhow

I've never been to a track day that required the installation of a twoing eye. If required the car may be recovered by using a strap around the lower A-arms (front or rear).

Check with the club that you intend to drive with to make sure.

In the UK they do like you to have a front and rear. We are short of run off over 'ere and an off more time than not will see you in gravel or stuffed into the tyres/barriers HEAD ON!! Whoops.

I've pulled my can-am on to a trailer this way without damaging the bodywork. That said, a towing eye would be much easier/ less worry, and I will be fitting one soon.

Mine also was winched onto the back of a recovery truck in Le Mans a few years back without any damage

i have rear factory towing eye which is spaced with a couple of washers. the clip does not open as far as some ive seen so maybe that why there is a clearance issue.

I know looking at the yellow factory built car photos the clip opening is massive and theres no way room for a towing eye unless the bodywork is cut??
