Guys
at what level does the Ultima become a problem.
I.e. every corner your constantly worried about a heavy right foot as your likely to end up in a hedge, or a shift into a higher gear and all wheels are spinning.
Pub bragging is one thing but i want to use it and spinning the wheels up because i shuffle seat position isnt what im after.
Im targeting 550hp however there may be an opportunity for around 700 / 720 hp ish. However im aware that this is a huge jump. feedback would be appreciated.

Almost impossible to answer as the 'friskiness' of the car is dependent on the road conditions.
Also, it's how it makes its power. A nice, linear power curve gives lots of confidence, but a peaky delivery (think turbo with lods of lag) can bite you in the derriere big time.
Ultimately, you can have 30000hp - but you still control it with your right foot

I know whta you mean, what i mean is basically is foot flat to floor out of the question on a dry sunny day with temp in the tyres without wheel spining in a 700hp. or will it grip right through the rev range. i dont wnat all that power then as soon as i put my foot down - lots of smoke.

Again - totally dependent on the amount of grip available which depends on the road surface.I'm not being very helpful am I

There's no definitive answer to this I'm afraid as there are too many variables to it.

hahaha stig - bloody useless, however i totally see your point.
if it helps - ro charge supercharger on an ls3.
So should be a smooth delivery im told.
Mark
All I can say is that with the Weiand 177 on my .383 I never managed to spin the tyres to a significant degree in the GTR (630hp).if it helps - ro charge supercharger on an ls3.

Probably wasn't trying hard enough

Again as Stigs already said tyre, suspension setup, road??
i tend to find on a dual carridge way mine will wheelspin in 1st and 2nd all the time at peak and 3rd sometimes especially the evening when the air is cool.On a mainroad ive seen spin in thrid quiet easily and in third at high revs you are going some speed...However the ultima is controllerable enough that im happy to drive it in the rain as there is so much torque in the engine and the car is so light driving it like a pussy cat is very easy..
Im only running 565hp AS engine which seeing as its 5000 miles id say is now nearer 500hp. I will in the future be looking at an engine tune taking it in the 850hp area.(and ill still drive it in the rain)
choice is your but you will always want more horsepower and its easier to have a 700hp engine controlled by alot of slack in the throttle linkage than 500hp engine and want so more..

I have to say that my development of driving was helped hugely by running some superbikes thro rain and snow, you learn some degree of throttle control, and in my ultima, there was a very aggressive power delivery of 625hp/600ftlbs with a grabby paddle clutch, but rarely did the car get out of shape, a combination of the cars ability with my natural reluctance to floor it out of every corner. I don't believe power is the problem, driver sense and response to the car is the secret. If I had my chance again, I would go for as much HP as poss as long as the system was driver friendly.
Hi Mark
My ProCharged motor gives great power delivery with the boost winding up with rpm. It's a real pussy cat at normal speeds with so much torque on hand. At 1,600 rpm it produces 460lb/ft which is more than most supercars have at peak torque. But with all that torque I have not found traction an issue you just need to modulate the right foot. Too much right foot and it will spin the tyres, that goes without saying. I have a limited slip diff that gives me 90% lockup on acceleration and it works like a dream pulling straight and true. Most of the time I'm driving off boost and running a bypass valve. Being in a Can-Am I can hear the bypass valve expelling air all the time. The bit I like the most is when I give it the beans! The bypass valve shuts and suddenly it all goes quiet then you get launched into the horizon at break neck speed. It also gives you a smile that is very hard to remove.
Is 700BHP a problem? No problem at all!
(P.S. I've got more power coming this year! More boost.)

I've not yet run at VMAX! Hope to run in the next one though.

Hahaha Dave now now we must all do our research.
As you know from my background driving slow isnt something im willing to adapt to, so i need it to be useable. But then again who cares PUB BRAGGING RIGHTS!!!!!
Cante remeber where i saw it but theres a clip showing an MR2 doing various drag races, one of which is up against a 400hp Ultima GTR, to say it beats it would be a huge understatement, now if thats what 400hp does, im curious to see a 700hp+ race.
