I'm partly asking because I'm considering Brian Jacketts chassi for sale, but also because I've been looking into other completed Ultimas.

I've talked to the factory, and accordingly them it is virtually "impossible" to convert an already built chassi from RHD to LHD or vice versa.

I can see that the factory don't want to recommend me to by myself grind and weld to convert a car, because they are interrested in not seeing to many not-so-flawlessly-modified Ultimas out there.

But to your opinions out there, is it really that hard to convert it ?

I have gathered that there are welded brackets for the steering column and the pedals. I was thinking that I could simply weld and add the same brackets myself, mirrored, and leave the original ones in place.

But I have never seen a chassi in real life, nor a build nor the build CD.

What obstacles can anyone see in such a conversion ?
Is there a diagonal bar where one would want a footwell if you mirror the layout ? Any other problems to look out for ?

Thanks !

I do not claim to know the laws in Norway, however I'm in the US and I have checked our laws regarding RHD chassis. Our laws state that "as long as you can prove the chassis is produced in a country that RHD is standard, then a RHD vehicle can be tagged and licenced"

Check your laws, you may not need to convert it.

I checked into it so that if I did purchase a complete Ultima or a kit, it could stay the way it was originaly designed.

Hi !

Thanks, but I want it LHD......

Imagine trying to overtake, peeping out to see past a trailer from the inside !

But, yes, I have considered keeping it RHD.

Good Speed !

I think it would be easy to convert.
But I heard Ultima will not sell you a body unless you get the chassis from them.

The chassis would be from Ultima it is still being built and they have confirmed that they can at this stage make it LHD or RHD. But they need to know in next 2 days.

I think that for £3,000 a saving of £1000 is very good. So if you really want one then this is a bargain
