Exhaust coating

Having much regretted not coating my exhaust when new..I'm wondering about doing it now. Does anyone have experience of how well this can be done (eg Cermakrome etc) etc on an already tarnished exhaust?

I contacted Camcoat a few years back with a view to doing some existing TVR manifolds and was told that they have way of preparing the surface of used examples - so I can't imagine it will be an issue for you .

I am having my exhaust coated now. This should be an option from the factory. Nothing like opening the bonnet to a flaking exhaust. It was looking bad so I just decided to do it.

Hi my mate had his headers ( on a small block ford ) coated by cam coat and the 1st coat lasted approx 100 miles and this was on brand new never used headers , the guy at cam coat ( peter i belive ) talked a good fight but his product just didnt work , and when they recoated them they only coated them where it had come off , and then the coating only lasted another 100 or so miles and started to come off again and continues to come off making his expensive custom made headers look very shabby , so seeing how ultima exhausts are a big in ya face item when the clam is opened id personally swerve any coatings:

my sbc headers and boxes were camcoated, at least 5 years and were still looking fine. Had the silver finish rather than chrome finish.

I assume these are factory CATs ? The ones I have in my car must be the parents of those......wonder how much volume these can flow ?

Do you know which coating this was? Camcoat seem to to a million of different coatings and I'm wondering if it was the coating rather than the company?

Will look at the Zircotec offer too. Their website looks good, i've also looked at their ceramic wrap which seems to be a new offering on the market..

Does anyone have a pic of a ceramic coated exhaust after a few thousand honest miles on the clock?

Zircotec looks ok but are all the finishes that 'rough/textured' look?
The Camcoat finish is a smooth finish which i prefer.

Feedback from a couple of guys with the best white finish Zircotec is that it picks up marks and dirty fingerprints easily.

It does apparently work extremely well.

+1 I agree with Rusty here as Ive worked on race cars with the white finish headers and can confirm they do show the dirt but last well .. Alot of classic race cars the headers are the off colour white
