I know that lots of these have been built with no problem but here goes. I built a brace that capures the bolts that hold the wing under the glasswork and carried the load onto the verticle stiifener thats just outside of the wing mount points. I built it out of 7075 .100 alloy and glued it with some go to the moon A/B epoxy. I just thought the 700 lbs of down force could use more support. God forbid if that wing ever came off at speed. My uncle Bruce was the second in command of Corvette engineering for GM back in the day. He was test driving a 68 T top vette prototype at 150 miles per hour when one of the T tops came off the car. He told me the car spun so fast that catching it was out of the question. He was at GMs test track at the time, Milford? and indicated that the car had all kinds of room to stop in. He came away shaken but not injured. Being an engineer he told me that the imediate change in point of aero pressure vs the C.G. of the car is what caused the spin. Just a thought. Lee

well mine has some washers between the bodywork and the brace...so loading is only in a small area.. I can see the need for possible flat panel instead of the washers to distribute the load..however the load is pressing from the top not pulling from underneath...The wing comes with a pair of braces that attach to the underside of the wing mounts and transfer the downforce to a point just above the rear clip hinge point so why is additional bracing required?

Steve my thoughts were that the load is being transfered to the body panel not directly onto the fairly beefy verticle supports that are just outside of were the mounts attach. Seems to me that the little bit of extra care to build a direct load path onto the verticle support might be a good hour spent and maybe 10 or 12 onces of weight for the brace? Like I said I have never heard of a failure of the wing sooooo I may just being overly concearned. Lee
