Ultima with Enzo - Photos

I would have added these photos to the gallery, but it was quite special to get the two cars together.

We got to have a drive of the Enzo (the Ultima is owned by a ph'er who I'm sure will say hello soon!) and the Ultima seemed a lot more responsive and raw. Much more of a drivers car. (had a proper gearbox too!)







Now at this point John had to leave, so just imagine the Ultima bearing down on the Enzo behind it!

Gorgeous, not many times that i see a pic where the ultima looks like the ugly sister. Have to give it to those pesky italians they do make a stunner. All good nicer to look at in the rear view mirror.

that particular enzo isn't insured for road use and is simply a investment, so no need really!

Im led to understand they dont need them on the Enzo or Veyron.

I was told it was a DVLA exception as there is no vertical flat mounting for them which is why some of the Enzo's you see have them mounted horizontally inside one of the front air intakes, and others dont have them at all!!!!!!!!!

In that case, wouldn't you say the the Ultima also has no vertical flat mounting place realistically?

Seems that the requirement for front no plates is debatable at best.
I remember many years ago that Mcycles had to have front plates, but was dropped.

The question is, how many enzo owners care if they get pulled - most of the cars are used very rarely, so I would have thought the owners care more about the looks than legality...

With all the forward facing speed cameras there are now I can't believe there is an exception for 2 cars capable of more than 3 times the national speed limit.

The DVLA are not usually sympathetic to this sort of request.

Of course us old guys don't speed - far to sensible and careing for that.

If the DVLA could figure out a way of fitting plates to the front of a bike I'm sure they would. Perhaps they could get the plate stuck to the riders helmet!!!!!

I just don't see the DVLA letting 2 cars get away without front plates just because the designers haven't included a vertical surface in their design (I think it is a requirement for all road cars to accommodate a front plate)

However, those with the money tend to write (re-write) the laws to suit themselves.

It is annoying that it appears to be one rule for one, and a different one for another.

But the front plate on the Ultima does not offend me in any way and IMO does not detract away from the car. A front plate on an Enzo however, would!

Many thanks to George for iniviting me along for the day and getting a great shot of the car.

Driving the Enzo, Zonda, XJ220, F430, R35 GTR + CL63 AMG wasn't bad either....!

I dont exactly have have front number plates on my car and have not been pulled as of yet??????? mine is horizontal on the front splitter....

However the new average speed cameras here on the Macclesfield to Buxton road(the cat and fiddle run) are not forward facing but rear facing for motorcycles, so they would catch me speeding if i wasn't silly enough to stop in the layby just after the first one before having fun on the 6 miles of 's' bends inbetween.....

Those two cars are a great colour match (in the photos anyway). Is your Ultima just the standard gelcoat or have you had it painted?

I usually find red, doesn't really suit most cars, but these two are an exception, both cracking looking cars

Hi Paul

That is indeed the standard red gelcoat from Ultima. It is a pretty good colour match! There was a photo on here with the car at goodwood parked next to another Enzo and it looks just as close in that photo...!
