You have no idea!!! hahahaha
The entire dash was ripped out last night! To say i wasnt happy with what the trimmers did is an understatement. Guess my questions on here about value for money etc was justified - only to be slated for asking!!!!
A bespoke dash is now being made and trimmed with everything made with the driver in mind.
So yep when i drop my keys on the bar at the local, i want a better key - is this one out of a fiat panda?

That is the rumour I heard., i want a better key - is this one out of a fiat panda?
What you really need is a keypad ignition........ and yes i could be taking The P a little
(It can be done though)I would have thought any 'basic' ignition barrel would be fine, not sure about the modern keyprogramming/matching jobbies though.
What didnt get nicked much in the 80's ...... and before some smartar$e gets on here, im not saying you should use Yugo55 barrels!!
Seems the idea of a keypad was quite popular a few years ago, but most attempts were withdrawn...
However, if ypou want the ultimate then try the Start Smart version from here - has a video as well:

no reason why this could not be used - you would probably have to recess it somehow in the dash, but looks the DBs as far as ruggedness, seems easy to install and has anti-theft options - must admit, I am tempted!
...go on! You know you want to!

Marrrrkkk......
BIO-TOUCH!!!!!
Ok love all those ideas, ill review them now and let you know how i get on.
However bare in mind from my previous experience with the police, im not to keen on the old thumb print / bio metric / retina scan, as if some one really wants the motor i cant just hand them the key!!! They may want the exact item that starts it to take with them if you get the idea - eye patch anyone.1!!!!

any dash mounted igition switch will do......
take your pick... U want a ferrari one ring a ferrari breakers..
When i was building hotrods we put the ignition under the dash so you did not ever see the ignition barrel... as it happens any car is easy to hot wire and im not going to tell you how on an open forum..........Its harder on an Ultima and again I wont say why..
key is one thing security is another..if Someone wants your car its better to give them a key than your thumb...best deterant is a hidden fuel pump switch as they will drive off and 200 yards later run out of fuel and leg it....That way you dont have to confront them again..and your pride and joy is still just in sight...(they wont run back to you and ask if its broken either will they!!)

Autoloc offer a flip key kit. With or without built in remote features. Not sure if that ticks the box or not.

Going key-less is great when everything works but not so good if the battery goes flat for any reason. With my Cerbera you have a "secret way" of getting into the car if the door buttons don't work and the door and starter electrics are an area that causes many owners problems.
I will keep it simple with keys for the doors (and possibly remote as well) and a key in the ignition.
