I have now examined the area that the broken cannister solenoid pipe connects ....
and the clip-on boss has snapped clean off the plastic throttle body mounting plate.
This plate appears to be part of the lower central chamber running front-to-back of the engine top, and that soundS very expensive!
What a disaster!
Any engine gurus got an idea how I can fix this PLEASE! - I am totally peed off now! I'm NOT Playing any more!

Apart from a bullet in the head, can someone help me??

Steve...
Problem is that I have no idea if this pipe on the LS7 is important, or affects the ECU (and what to do about it), or has any IVA implications?
I notice that some on other forums seem to actively remove this and block it off, but then I suspect their motors are not pre-registration.
Who knows?
cheers

can you take the assembly off, drill it out and glue a piece of brake pipe in the hole to use as a new outlet??

Dom, having never worked on an LS7 before, and no workshop manual, I have no idea how easy or difficult this would be.Dom
I have worked many times with all sorts of european engines in the past, but not this one!
Does anyone know the procedure? Any torque settings I need to know about, sealing needs, gaskets, potential issues?...what is inside? Any manuals?
Quite happy to do this, but I like to know what I am getting into...
cheers

Keith, just remove the throttle body, (four bolts and a re-useable 0 ring type gasket are employed here).
Get a new, clean cotton rag, push inside the manifold to form a neat seal, then hand drill (with a short bit and fingers) tap or screw straight in your replacement union. The plastic is very soft and easily worked, just make sure you seal the new connection properly and vacuum the whole area out before removing the cloth, rebuild.
1/2 hour tops to sort it, dont get too worried.

Here's a VERY good explanation of EVAP.

That solution is brilliant, and I can't understand why I did not think of it - a few years ago I would have!Get a new, clean cotton rag, push inside the manifold to form a neat seal, then hand drill (with a short bit and fingers) tap or screw straight in your replacement union. Now I need to either get the broke pipe end (that fits/clicks into the snap hose) refabricated with a threaded end ( anyone with a small lathe?) or go for a simple tube replacement, cut off the clip-fitting and use a lenght of pipe to join.
