Taking the Can Am to the Classic for the first time in a few weeks. Can anyone tell me if there are any issues I should be thinking about e.g. Ride height, width etc.
Do I need to let the Ferry Co. know in advance?

No real issues just turn up and be prepared to wait.

What will happen is you will be selected as being a low vehicle at a fairly late stage of the queuing and loading process and will be directed into a different lane where you will wait, probably with a few others, until you think they have forgotten all about you. By this time all your mates will already be in the bar and finished their first beer.

What they are waiting for is to get all the trucks on first then tuck you in behind them on the lower deck. In this way you don't have to negotiate the steep ramps and tight turns inside the boat. It also means you will probably be out at the other end long before all the normal cars as the trucks have done it so many times they fly out at about 30mph with 3 feet between them leaving you a nice clear deck to leave.

If the tide is High/low they will take special care to hydraulically adjust the ramp and see you aboard. I have even had them adjust the ramp for me to drive on from the dock then move the ramp with me stationary on it until it correctly aligned with the boat. They did this with 2 cars at a time. On one trip the 'Load Master' was even laying on the ground in the rain watching the underside of my car.

You also get the deck crew coming down to take pictures of the cars.

Very strange being dwarfed by the huge trucks.

Another question for the seasoned traveller:
What do we do if anything about our lights when driving on the wrong side of the road?

Remove the light covers to expose the back of the headlight unit. You can then release a posidrive screw and turn the headlight unit so the angled beam cutoff is now on the other side, refit the screw, refit covers.
