Lovely day for a drive

Hands up if you are a smug git, cos you fitted removable windows.
That will be me then .................... great drive out today, windows out and lovely breeze coming in.
Only down side is i have messy trousers! The guy i went to see (blue car , orange stripe) was testing my twitchy backend (ooeeerr) at quite a high speed. I have managed to put finger dents into the roll cage.
Annnnddd yesss the above statement is all to do with the GTR and i dont want any smart comments ..... you know who you are!!!
Cant find a code for 'BIIIGGG smiley face' , but you get the idea.

It's very good, it pullls and pulls and pulls.
very smooth at low speeds as well.
Sounds friggin fantastic.
doesn't stink of petrol.
doesn't make your eyes water.
is quiet when just trundling along.
did i mention it was pretty quick.
def def better than my sbc.
did about 100 miles today and still got 3/4 tank of fuel!!!!!!!
If you want a better technical description im afraid you'll have to speak to Kyle
cheers Dave, you may get a chance to see 1st hand in a week or two.

I'll look forward to it Sir!... glad to hear it performs okay.
SO, this improved MPG......as Im still some way off my with my own efforts what does a '1/4' tank equal in simple mans terms?
Soon as you know your approx mixed-use MPG I'd appreciate the feedback....helps me with future Cam selections.
Rgds.

Did 200 miles in the canam today. Great but still couldn't get oil temp above 65 despite installing a thermostat in cooler system. got absolutely cooked despite aircon on full. Has anybody modified their car yet to actually get air to go into the top vent rather than pour hot air into the cockpit? I have thought about the cold air intake thing and sealing around top vent to ensure engine sucks cold air but surely if air was drawn in through this vent to the whole engine bay it would help with engine bay temps? Also that kind of air pressure in the clam must be creating some lift.
Brain not functioning that well due to extreme sunburn of the forehead also suffered whilst driving today!!

I suffered the same heat into the cockpit every time I stopped so I blocked it off and got the side scoops to force a bit more air into the engine bay, I was going to make up a system to 'pipe' air from the scoops up to the carbs air filter.
I think you'll find that the factory blocks the central intake vent, although I stand to be corrected.

...So top scoop is not really working as would be desireable then?
Is that why GTWayne and others refabbed the scoop to be higher and more forward?
cheers
I think the top scoop does a passable job on the GTR but does the reverse on the CanAm.Is that why GTWayne and others refabbed the scoop to be higher and more forward?

The scoop on GTW will make a lot of difference.
An answer discussed some time back was to fit a fan between the exhaust pipes to draw air through and out the back. Try as I mite I could not come up with a sensible solution without resorting to a cluster of small fans.
I think side scoops will work and am in the process of having moulds done.

I still don't think, after many hours head-scratching, the top scoop does much at all.......its in quite a low pressure area. Nor IMHO do sidescoops do much for the drag (if you are looking for top end performance)......ramming air in to make it hot, expand and rise to the top of the clip seems a wasted exercise inconjunction with the top scoop.
2-4 times the extraction area to induction area ratio with extraction using natural aero's would be the better solution I reckon ?

Its the large full windscreen issue... with the aero screen - no heat problems at all - yes flys in teeth issue, but all part of the fun! I think you'll find that the factory blocks the central intake vent, although I stand to be corrected.
