My kit arrived in Port Houston today. I hope to see it at the house by the end of next week. The shipper handled the arrangements between Houston and Denver which was nice. There ended up being two large crates instead of the usual 1 large crate. I ordered the whole thing up front, so everything wouldn't fit in one. The only thing that didn't ship were the wheels which should follow soon. Like Igor mentioned, it sounds like OZ didn't get Ultima their ususal allotment of rims... The Customs agent has been very helpful as well. Hopefully there will be no really significant snags in the customs area. Spoke to State Farm about insurance. They will insure the car PARTS while its being built, but are hedging on insuring it after its a "car". Any one else insured their Ultima with State Farm? I think the underwriter is a little hesitant because he has never insured a kit car before. Maybe if someone has insured theirs thru State Farm, he will be more willing to do it. I would hate to have to insure it through LLoyds of London or something. :-)

I talked to state farm about insuring my canam also. They agent told me it wasn't a problem because they have done several cobra kit cars. Unfortunately the underwriters said they wouldn't do it because of the performance level of the ultima. Maybe I should have lied about the hp.
Hagerty is the way to go, just got a quote for 1000 a year, 75000 dollar insured value, no mileage limits, and I am only 26.

Thanks! I will look into Hagarty then. State Farm is funny sometimes. I have a Honda CBR1100XX Blickbird that no other company would insure because of the performance but State Farm did with no questions asked. I am 35, have good driving record and a really good radar detector. :-) Who knows...
