Where to put me sensors!
Discussion
Water Temp sensor (1/8th NPT - SPA Dash system):
My LS7 already has a temp sensor in the LH head close the the front of the engine, BUT being std, it is taken up with the LS7 Loom to ECU, and I can find no output from the ECU which maybe I could have used to feed the SPA Dash - bit odd I would have thought??
So, I might have 2 options...
1. to use the sensor supplied by SPA and possibly get an adaptor for the top hose and read the temp from there? (anyone know the silicone pipe size so I can order the adaptor today?)
2. Is it possible to use the signal from the engine temp sensor already in place by splicing the wires? ..or is this a bad thing to do?
Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers Dave,
I will take a peek when I get home!
BTW where have you got your Oil temp sensor ? Sorry if I have already asked that one...I seem to be going around in ever decreasing circles with this build and seeking snippets of info!
Getting the engine bay ready for the engine has been HUUUUGLY longer than I ever imagined...BUT...it is coming together now...and I keep dreaming of the day I fire it up for the first time!
Can't wait!
cheers

Found the blanking plug for the water temp sensor as you said - thanks!...on the opposite head at the rear of the engine.
This plug is fairly big (just under 1/2 inch) and looks like a coarse tapered thread. My guage tells me that the thread dia is 0.46" at the end-end and 0.473" at the cap-end.

Does anyone know what type of thread this is, and where I could get an adaptor to reduce this to 1/8th NPT (fine thread) for the sensor I have?
Cheers

So Steve do you recon there is enough meat in there to redrill and tap? Then of course I will need to get hold of an NPT 1/8th tap....what drill size should I use?
cheers

Yes well spotted. You get fooled by the 1/8" into thinking it is quite small.cheers

Tapping is imperial drill size 'Q' (.332") (8.43mm) so will leave very little meat if the bung is M12.
I have a tap in an imperial set by Clarke from Machine Mart.

Sounds like a trip to machine mart then...have to say all the taper kit I have found so far only seem to have metric in them + either 1/8th NPT (M27)or 1/8th BSP, buth strangely not both, so hope my local machine mart can supply....the imperial ones without buying all the metric ones as I have them already!
cheers
