I have a 3 stage Stock Car Products dry sump pump and will soon change to a 4 stage to increase the crankcase vacuum. The motor is new, doing this after a track day with lots of time above 6k and new oil leaks.

Anyone else here had to do this?

Ken I run a 2 stage suction pump on the LS1 pressure is still provided by the stock pump. Never seen the problem you have mentioned I think I would take a good look at the ventaltion on the motor before I changed pumps. Lee

I've found multiple references on the internet that state that this engine needs at least a 4 stage pump to acheve negative pressure while in the upper rev range. Also discussed this at length with Stock Car Products and Peterson Dry Sump Systems. Both indicated that a 3 stage pump was inadequate even if driven at high speed with a small drive pulley.

To test this I "opened" up the valve cover vent allowing the crankcase to vent freely. Every oil leak is gone.

So much wish that American Speed had recommended a 4 stage pump and a pan with three pickups.
