Before I start drilling for england, I thought I would ask y'all where your favorite place was for the engine earth-strap.

I know it shouldnt matter too much provided you have properly cleaned the contact areas...but I thought I would ask anyway...just in case someone has a revelation to report.

I think the ones that came with the kit (one for the front to the battery and one for the engine) were pre LS7, so since my build is an LS7 where is the choicest position...and connected/bolted to which part of the engine...or gearbox??

cheers

havent built one , but Id wait until the engine and box is in before you drill in the wrong place.

Mine SBC has earth strap on gearbox.

There is a prepare earth point on the chassis almost in line with the engine/'box joint so the logical (to me) point would be one of the bolts joining both units.

It certainly makes short work of that nasty plastic covering when you configure it this way biglaugh

I earthed battery onto the crossmember point, engine onto diagonal down tube(big square bit) and the gearbox right at the rear.

It was the choke cable on one of my early minis. It used to glow red hot!

On the early mini the only connections, when the earth strap failed, was the choke and throttle cables. A very common problem.
