Way-hey!

Got to the bit where you pump the all-important bodily fluids into the waiting beast, thus building up that singularly exciting anticipation for the day you press the starter and listen to your prodegy wake up for the first time!!!!! If you could 'can' that moment - and sell it as aftershave, you could make an absolute fortune!

Still a bit to go though, lots of loose ends to connect, check, fix, always looking for those heart-thumping forgotten items...until......the day arrives.

SO...having read many a thread on the subject I wanted to make sure I was not under/overfilling the engine (LS7), and gearbox TT G96-50 and double-checking what I should be using ref spec of the appropriate fluid!

It is surprising how difficult is is to find what I though would be easy info to get hold of, like the correct LS7 engine oil type |(for the UK and cats) and the exact number of litres/Quarts to correctly fill both the engine, dry sump, oil lines, oil cooler, filter, and remote sump...

All I can find is a reference to 8 Quarts but is that sufficient with the oil cooler and lines? oil type - some say Mobil 1, but then synthetic Mobil 1 comes in numerous varieties including 0w40 and the all new 5w30....so 5w30 is what I got, and I just hope that was the right decision?

Then on filling the remote oil-pot 7 quarts took the oil level to just above the internal plate so stopped there.... should I put the 8th Quart in?

And then the re is the gearbox (G96-50) - here I have no idea what grade/make or the correct number of litres for inverted use...so can any one help?

I just DON'T want to get this wrong.....

cheers

Keith

This is what I have filled my 996 Getrag with, as recommended by CanamDave (3 litres)

Plus I also have Mobil 5w30 in my LS3.

Can't help with the other info I'm afraid........
