Does anyone know where I can get side scoops from? i did pay another forum member £200 for some fibreglass ones in Febuary, countless excuses later and now he will not answer e-mails, so i think i need to forget about him and start my search for some again.
Any help would be appreciated.

i think i know this guy and I have bought those and not so happy with the fitting of these. Decision is that I make new moulds that fit much better in the holes
of the GRP and make them available here. The problem is that my car is now 4 months gone to get the german registration which leaves me with nothing to work on. If you have the patience I will have some very nice side scoops for sale in a few months. I will also make some carbon ones, have a friend with a GRP company that has been supplying Gemballa at that time when he still was paying his invoices.

it finally seems that I will collect my car with plates next FRIDAY !!!!
So waiting will not to be long, btw my side scoops are cracked already simply not strong enough made.....will not happen with the ones I have in mind.
I did my fix with rivnuts to the side pods so taking them off is easy and I recommend to others not to glue them in.
I personally will try to make my personal ones so that I will spray the glass with silver before putting it in the mould, maybe possible also with other colors might look very good in flesh, we will see.

Stevesmee your side pods were posted on the 21/05/2010 @ 11.24am 1st class packet £4.50 total cost of services £5.24 from Malpas post office, I still have ALL the proof of posting reciepts. Didn't realise you hadn't recieved them until this post.
Spatz you did notify me of the N/S side pod having a slight gap around the bottom curvature and after a short discussion decided you would rectify this yourself.
I made these scoops for my own car and never had a problem, the new owners have had my car for about 2 years now, they had a lot of upgrades in the engine department and as far as I know, not had any issues with them, ie leaning against the pods while working, causing cracking etc, all 22 sets that I have sold of these one piece design, only had one problem that anybody has told me about and that is you Spatz, all these one piece sets were made exactly the same as mine.
originally I did make 5 other sets that were 2 piece, sold to Gulf, graham-p and T-rev in UK, and 2 went to the USA, but these took too long to make, so had a set of moulds proffesionally made to make things easier. Again didnt know there was an issue until this thread, how am I supposed to change anything if you don't call me or mail me, I dont posses a crystal ball, instead you choose to post on an open forum.
Captain Slog, I take it, your comments are directed at me, which I take great exception too, don't know where you fit into this discussion ? do you even have an Ultima ? if so, I look foreward to meeting you at the Factory open day, although I don't have an Ultima now, I will make a special effort to attend.

Any further issues please call or mail me, There again 1 out of 22 isn't bad ?
that is 1 out of 22 of the one piece proffesional moulds.

thanks Russell

russ no offense the ones you send me are ok, but I am german, so I apologize wanting them to be perfect. And there is always a learning curve - sure your next run would have had some improvements too.

No I hadn't received them, I did send you e-mails on the 15 June and 16 July asking where they were, but I had no reply from you. Do you have a tracking number?

Okay then (my apologies Stig), I've had new moulds and a pair of side scoops professionally made, 3 layer, black gell coat finish and then carbon wrapped - I've also carbon wrapped a previous pair that I have. Will bring them along to the FOD so you can all tell me what you think? Even though they look stunning in the carbon wrap (IMHO), I'm still considering whether or not to fit a pair on the car? Here's a preview...

See you on Sunday.

I thought that this topic would make Highflyer do the honourable thing, still no contact from him! It's a shame that I have to do this on an open forum but Highflyer will not answer e-mails.

Forgive the dumb newbie question but what benefit do you "actually" get from these scoops ?

Do the rear brakes get too hot or maybe the engine compartment ? Does it really help ? Most inlet scoops on performance cars go inwards (think of the old Ferrari cone scoop etc) so these look a little odd sticking outwards. This is no comment on the quality of the parts, they look excellent, just a straightfoward "why does the Ultima need them" ? question.

Rear clip holds lots of hot bits with no forced air flow unlike a front engined car. The only air flow through the engine bay is that created by the vacuum formed behind the rear grill. I hope to find that the scoops put a little more air in there.

I orginally developed these with reveria (highflyer took moulds from my canam when he owned it) and admittedly they were a little more comprehensive than these as it chanelled the air to 150mm ducts which i then pointed these to my air filter etc.... on an overcast day without them the air filter would be so hot you coundnt touch it... after they were fitted on hottest day of year after 1.5hrs constant driving at 70mph they were cool to touch so they worked brilliently.

I decided to have them made as I had a temp guage in the engine bay and even with constant driving the temp in the engine bay got stupid hot on the canam as there was no air flow at all.
