Hi all , just as i cracked off the 2nd bolt on the speedo sensor I thought opps ! i should of messured the air gap between the sensor and the driveshaft chopper ( i assume that gap sets the accuracy of the speedometer )well now iv got my gearbox back in after its rebuild i need to set the speedo , so is the gap inportant ? and does anyone know what their speedo reeds at say 2000 rpm in 4th? ( G50 03 type box ) as i can then set it up on the axle stands , cheers ,Dal

Proximity sensors tend to either work or not, so if your getting a signal then don't worry. Normally most sensors have a working range of a few mill, so set it to 2mm and you should be fine.

The gap will not change the speed reading apart from when it is too far away and starts missing pulses. In which case the speedo will just become erratic or stop reading at higher speeds.
1-2mm will be fine.

Depends what speedo you have. I believe the Factory speedo has a line of DIP switches or finger wheels on the back of the speedo. Use these to set a figure of 6400. This figure is in the wiring section of the build manual.

Other electronic dashes or speedos will have similar setup methods.

my factory speedo delivered in 07 is adjusted by holding the speedo reset for 3-5 seconds and then changing the number that apperas in the odometer part of the speedo up or down to move the indicated speed up or down. its very easy to do. We have unmanned radar speed monitors here that show you your speed when you pass to remind you of your irresposible behavior. Couple of passes and the speedo was right on the money. Lee
