Dash recovering ?
Discussion
I think this has been covered before (pun). But, with the GTR the only bit of the dash that will come out (and that is if you have one) is the pod that houses the tacho and speedo or Stack dash display.
I built my car, and covered the dash. I would think it would be very difficult to do, getting the old stuff unstuck is one thing but getting a new covering back in, particulary around the windscreen would be very messy to say the least. I think most people that have redone the dash have had the screen removed beforehand, this allows much greater access and you can tuck the covering around the screen GRP lip.
Another tricky area would be around the A pillers, if you have the full rollgage, but unless you are going to take the centre section off you will just have to be careful and patient.

Depending on what type of covering is already on there of course. As above, removal would be a tricky task. Wouldn't want to try it without the screen out.
For recovering, could use flock. If you're unsure what flock is, it is the same stuff used for Action Man hair or the nice velvety lining in many gloveboxes etc.

With mine I completely replaced the dash fibre glass noulding with a new one from the factory.. to replace the very bespoke dash arrangement from the original build...so this was complete tub off as well as screen out and jigged up to keep everything straight. The screen was removed before I got the car so I dont know how difficult that is without breaking it...... but to properly trim the dash without removing the screen looks all but impossible to me....
I think to recover the complete dash on yours Rob would be a nightmare as the early cars , the cage was very close to the dash..
Ive been thinking a new dash from ultima, shaped and lieing ontop of the old one. As long as it touches the screen you would never know... just the finishing where the cage runs vertically against teh dash to worry about.
You could hide all the old holes and teh one in the centre of the dash??

Guys, a new dash install is very easily done with screen intact, i dont do it, but a company i use has done several, Trust me i should know ive spent around £5000 so far and im on dash Number 3. Until i found these guys it was just useless. They dont charge the earth either.
Note - the £5000 was spent mainly on companies that had no idea what they were doing, this new company is very very cost effective.
PS - Rob call me mate.
