Folks,

it is quite amazing to see that some guys want to take the Ultima to a level that it is not intended to be
and I think this is sometimes not doing the car justice.
I would say for the money you pay you get more value than with any other car and for a car to be used on the road in daily traffic it has
good manners still offering a thrill that is only coming with a race prepped car.
For those who think the Ultima is matching modern race cars, I must say they should probably have a look at those cars and especially
the price tag for what is used there. A quick visit to the BOSCH MOTORSPORT website will tell you the story........
The other thing is the simplicity of the car compared to any production car of today, hence the reason why I am not thinking you should add
a paddle shift, traction control, CAN bus and what else they make you believe is necessary in a car.

I understand that the main target for the factory is too supply a great value for the price, and sometimes the stuff they are selling
is not meeting individual expectations. I have been cursing quite a few times and I would suggest that the factory would offer more options
to upgrade the car for those who could or want to afford it.
After the built you know all of that but before there are lots of questions about what to order.
I would suggest before you start your build you are reading a lot here and then visit somebody who has a built a car before, buy him dinner, take a notepad
and write everyhting down you hear. This will save you cost and time.

The next interesting thing about the car is that they hardly use their value, you will always get the price for what you paid for the parts.
Probably nobody will reimburse you for the time....

I had a great time building the car and even greater time now driving it and will now start improving things that I think need to be worked on.
Check my build site I will post the changes there most of them coming during the winter time.
If the registration would not be so painful I might consider building another one, with big changes one of them moving tank to the front (ATL fuel cell)
and radiators to the back.

Spatz,

Just looked through your website and ordered the same clutch slave cylinder- The thought of 30% less pressure on the clutch sounds a great step forward!

Hi

Well, everyone to their own :-)
I bought and am building an Ultima to be what I want it to be...

Your comments about the SVA scare me even more than I already am....gulp! I CAN wait for that one. (No pun intended :-) )

As far as CAN goes, it is only an improvement on buildability (if there is such a word) and reliability. It is not changing the car in any way, unless you want it to, so I can't see the problem? Perhaps the purist may scoff, or people that hate technology, but if it makes it better and more reliable and easier to implement, then I don't understand the dislike?

TC and paddle shift.... whatever rocks your boat...
TC can be a great thing if done properly, it seriously enhances the driving experience. I have driven cars with decent TC that lets you drift the car under perfect control (as long as you have you foot on the load pedal). This does not make you a better driver, but hell to that, it is soooo much fun, and a damn sight safer....
