Russel Steel Braided Fuel Line
Discussion
I just discovered after many dollars and alot of time that Russell Steel Braided Fuel Line is not up to the job. The line actaully weeps gas vapors. The garage smells aweful and I am going to have to rip out all the steel braid used for my fuel injection. The manufacturer tells me they have heard this complaint before but say nothing about it on their web site. The manufacturer also informed me that all steel braided lines do this regargless of the manufacturer.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do to overcome it, replace all the braided line with solid tubing?

Borrowed a detector from work and worked my way around the system. All bar one of the ali pipe joints showed no difference to the background level taken in the garage after it had aired for a while.
The upper transfer/balance pipe also shows no reading as the tanks are not full so there is no fuel in that pipe.
On all the other pipes the meter goes mad.
By far the highest reading is against the air filter so due to it's surface area it is probably that which is producing the bulk of the smell.

You've done the obvious by checking all the fittings it sounds. Have you smelled around the petrol tanks? I've had to repair my tanks twice due to stones getting wedged between the fiberglass and the bottom of the tank. Not a particularly difficult job, but not exactly fun either. Be sure to seal the tank off well.
I've very surprised that gas would smell so badly that it stinks up the garage due to Russel fuel lines. I've never noticed anything like this with rubber fuel lines on other vehicles.
Cheers!
