How about this, the quality looks realy good. Down load the onboard Video clip, this thing pulls 1.77G on the twistys and 1.5G on the brakes...... Am awaiting price lists.

No it's going to have to be as good as an Ultima, or better. I still love the GTR, so I'll just build another if I can't find what I want. It's hard to find anything that has the same drop dead original looks as an Ultima, all the other cars that I am considering are replicas of old race cars. I don't mind building a replica, but I don't want to be one of many, GT40 Cobra etc

Hi Clive,
I haven't spoken to that guy in a long time, but he has given me some advice in the past. From what he told me, he bought actual carbon fiber body panels for a Ferrari F40 and then he had a shop build a tube frame chassis for him. I don't know how much it resembled the F40, but I'm sure there are some similarities. The same shop that had the panels for sale built the chassis for him. I remember him using Motec FI and some other pretty sophisticated running gear. 1.7g's with slicks sounds about right. An ultima on slicks would do the same (which you probably already know). The only trouble is you'll need to beef up the drivetrain to take advantage of slicks and run dry sump for better oiling. I think Jay Esterer got around 1.2 g's on a skidpad with the hoosier DOT tires and his mods. Remember, the g forces are not the same between static (on a skid pad) and dynamic conditions with the wing kicking in on a track. Back to this issue of slicks. I haven't heard many builders mention cryogenic freezing to build up the drivetrain. Here in the states we have several cryogenic service firms. I've heard claims of 2 to 3 times improvement in strength. Maybe this would be a way to beef up the input and pinion shafts on a G50 and beef up the driveshafts. I saw some guys doing this with a transmission on TV here in the states. I'd definitely investigate cryogenics for your next project (I don't think its too increadibly expensive over here either). Just a few thoughts for your next project car.

Why not build another GTR or a Can-AM and make it better than your previous GTR? Build and add new technologies to it so it'll corner better than 1.77 Gs and 1.5 Gs braking.... Go for, 2Gs, 3Gs...

Extremely wide slick tires and total vehicle weight are the two main components, but you must also factor in total vehicle downforce (front and rear) also. Some of the prototype race cars could put down as much downforce as the vehicle weighed and more. Anything over 1.5 g's and we are talking race car with slicks (for the most part). What's interesting, is that compared to most run of the mill 3000lb sports cars, the Ultima will out corner them all day long. Look at what Jay did on the skid pad, without really having tuned the suspension. I believe, and have been told, that an Ultima will see 1.25-1.5 g's with the right suspension mods, street tires, and factoring in high speed dynamic conditions (over 100mph when the wing kicks in).
Could a Can-Am or GTR achieve 2-3 g's? A lot...and I mean a lot...of work would need to be done. With enough money anything's possible. 2 g's is certainly much easier to arrive at than 3. A GTR in race trim, with a 4130 chromeolly chassis, a lot of reinforcement to make the chassis stiffer(see Jay Esterer's website for starters), 18x12 front and 18x12 rear slicks, c/f bodywork with improved bodywork downforce(front splitter, front winglets, fully paneled belly, and I'd also throw in an adjustable rake with the rear wing). A/R bars front and rear, stiffer spring rates, dry sump oiling, and a very serious transaxle. I think we would be talking 2 g's, based on some previous discussions with people I've spoken to. Its not exactly a simple case of throwing on slicks and heading off to the track. There are a lot of suspension changes that need to be made as well. Every modification, calls for another modification, as you are constantly upgrading the weakest links. For example, you'll break driveshafts, and then once you get stronger driveshafts, then you'll start breaking input shafts on the G50. Personally, I've spoken to the right guy about doing all of the necessary mods, but the jump up from street tires to slicks is more than my wallet and spare time can handle. I have fully and accurately modeled the suspension for future reference, and spoken to the right designer for help, but my finances, time, and energy are needed in other more important projects. Its all possible, but you really need to be retired with welding and fabrication skills to achieve that goal if doing it yourself. There's only one person I'd trust that project to in England if you wanted someone else to do it all.

I have seen it on the road and it is stunning. You would have to be a keen fan to pick it from a real one- the fact that I don't think there is even one original F40 here in NZ gives it away though!! The Lexus V8 sounds suitably lumpy at low engine speeds (unfortunately we were at the lights and he was driving responsibly so no red lining) and as the figures show, it goes like stink. Not bad for the colonials eh?

The Mini's a must do project, but it will only be a fun car to use every day. Yes Andy could have put a busa in a 7, but have done the 7 thing and it was no fun in the winter. So mini for work etc, and another GT/Lemans Car long term project.
On a side note due to the realy good exchange rate at present have order all the major engine parts for the GT car as follows :-
Scat light wieght racing Forged steel Crank 4" stroke
Oliver Billet rods
Iron Eagle Block with tall deck and raised cam hieght 4.165" Bore
Brodix CNC Ported heads
Kinsler Fuel injection system
Weaver Drysump system.
So there will be a 434ci chevy in the spare room, at least untill next year.( In bits anyway )
Knight Racing services have built a few of these engines and they all have over 600BHP and 600Lbs, so that's where this one will be built, but not until next year.
So all I need is to make up my mind what car to put it in ?
