On my side, I just bought an Odyssey Extreme Racing 40, deemed to be Ok for LS7...

really wouldnt worry about the battery just yet, you want to concentrate on fitting an engine 1st.

I used a Redtop 40 on my first LS7 and it was only just enough for starting power.

Have used Powervamp 60 this time and it starts a dream.

optima yellowtop will start my ls7 engine 30 times with no problems even with rads running, very good battery

Optima YellowTop for me too, it got embarrasing jump starting the car if you didnt get it right from cold in the morning! It isnt that much heavier, and tucks in behind the rack no problem.
