Registration question
Discussion
Hi,
Just been to my local DVLA office in Edinburgh to see about registering my car. The chap I spoke to was quite helpful. Turns out that they don't always need to inspect the car particularly if I provide some appropriate pictures. It all seemed quite straight forward... until he said that I needed to provide an MOT.
Has anyone else needed to get an MOT? I thought that new registered kit cars were exempt from this requirement. Is it worth arguing over?

No Pictures needed, no MOT, Just recent SVA Certificate, Certificate of newness, list of all parts suplied by Ultima.
I wish these guys would get there act together, they seem to be to many differences all the time.
Had No problem with the Factory recomended Nottingham SVA Centre and Nottingham Registration office.

Turns out that if you ask the right question you get meaningful answers. I had forgot to mention that it was a new non-age related registration I was after (Doh!) so got the wrong story and the wrong form (V55/5 rather than the correct V55/4). No MOT is required at all.
I'm still going to stick in some pretty pics with my receipts showing the relevant chassis numbers, etc to try and make sure they don't have an excuse to inspect the car on their premises... There's about 50 hideous speed bumps on the way into my local office which I really want to avoid.
I'm with you on the consistency front Clive. There really does seem to be quite a lot of variation between the different SVA stations as well as the registration offices. I wish it didn't feel like so much of a lottery...
All credit to Ultima though for helping organise the documentation needed to make life as painless as possible.
