Hi All

Has anybody fitted the double adjustable Protech dampers supplied by the factory yet.

I fitted a new set yesterday and need to adjust them tomorrow but not sure which way to turn knobs and to save time experimenting I thought I would ask on here. I know which one does what but is clockwise firmer or vice-versa?

BTW. New bushes and plenty of lubricant has done away with all the creaking from the suspension which is soooooooooo nice.

Hi

On any damper clockwise increases damping. (screws the needle into the jet to restrict flow more)

(righty tighty :-) )

Any idea why the factory stopped using Intrax?

I thought "righty tighty" would be correct but just wanted it confirmed thanks.

Richard said that there had been some supply issues and other little problems with Intrax recently and the new two way Protech ones supplied by the factory are specifically designed for Ultima.

If anybody needs a temporary set of springs and dampers I have an old (fairly knackered it has to be said) set of one way adjustable Protech's.

Paul

PS. I don't think they were a lot cheaper (if any).

They shouldn't be too knackered, only have around 1,000 miles on them (springs were new & shocks were reconditioned).
Although that was a 1,000 miles with me driving smile

It felt as though the supension was struggling on uneven surfaces when pushing on and as I was replacing all the bushes and ball joints I did them at the same time.

The suspension and steering noises are now all gone BTW.

Paul, I replaced my dampers a few months back and noticed wear on the suspension bushes. The top ones all seemed fine, but the ones on the bottom wishbones had gone oval and you could move the arm in and out.

I since got a half set from Ultima, so I am hoping that just replacing the bottom ones will cure my creaks, how did your top ones look out of interest.

Mine had lasted 18000 miles with a lot of track use, so I seem to have done quite well compared to others that I know.

Sorry for the delay in replying. The bushes were not too bad but the inserts were very rusty and there was no lubricant. The change of bushes removed all the noises from the steering and suspension.
Richard suggested that the bushes need lubricating annually to keep them noise free and in good condition.
