Lower rear hub bushes - check!

My GTR has covered 11000 miles now and i thought it was time to replace all the suspension bushes.

Started last night on the off side rear and found that one of the lower hub bushes was in a very sorry state, the outer rim was half detached from the body and when removed the bush was oval.

Although this is not dangerous at the moment, it will affect the handling especially when under load.

It is difficult to check these properly without removing them, but i strongly recommend you check yours if your car has covered a reasonable milage.

Anyone else had found this?

sorry for my stupid question, but the bushes are the red inserts in the supsension ?

My lowers are grey. think they were the revised tougher bushes.

After 2000 miles mine look like new. well I guess they are pretty new still.

I agree- the grey are a lot better but depends how you use the car. However for a car putting that much power down it is easy to chage such a cheap part as a service item.

Jack Rosen sells nylon replacements for these bushings and all of the urethane bushings in the suspension.

He sold me a set about 10K miles ago and they are fine.

The red urethane ones went away very quickly.

If ordering a new chassis I would get the rose jointed suspension.

how many are there to look out for in a Ultima chassis and were are they? any picture of a chassis with suspension and circles around them to point those out?

also why are they so fast gone?

I mean with a normal car you can drive say 100.000km or so?

and what is the best way and material to live the longest with those in your chassis.

yes...ok no
but thats the only reason? not location/material?
wich bushes are the best/strongest for an Ultima and have the longest lifespan.

Just finished all the suspension now and it looks like the bottom rears are the one's to keep an eye on, all the rest looked ok.

yep the lower inners and outers will need replacing - the grey ones last longer but mine only lasted 3-4000 miles. All the front sets last for ever.(ish)
