Hi,

Anyone ever played with Rivnuts - I think they are used in Ultimas too?

I have to fit just 4 into the roof of my Range Rover to fit the Dog Guard mounts. They are proving a real b**ch to fit.

I know there is a proper tool, but I can't really justify spending £30 or more just to fit four rivnuts.

Has anyone got any handy tips on how to do this without a specialist tool, can I just use an M6 nut and "wind a gap" to crimp it?

Or, do you know where I can get a cheap M6 rivnut tool?

Option 1: The non-rivnut tool method
Option 2: Post your (rough) location - I'd have thought someone would be able to lend you one.

I used Option 1 a couple of times but in the end gave in and spent 60 quid on a decent kit and never looked back.

Bobs method one works.
I bought a complete kit. First time I wanted to use it there was no space for the tool. Sod's law.
